Anyway.

There's some things changing around these parts. Those that are frequenters of my LJ, not just reading mine through their style, will notice that I changed my layout back to my shark week layout that I had for about, all last year. I love hot pink. While I'm not sure it's my favorite color, it seems to encompass my personality well. Or so I'm told. And I picked the shark week banner because 1) I was inspired by Shark Week starting next Sunday (HOMG, GET THE POPCORN) and 2) it's a sentiment I agree with.

I'm also in the process of reorganizing all of my tags. While a bunch of entries lost their tags for the time being, that will be remedied. Promise.

Yes, I am that much of a nerd. Look at my icons list for cripes sake.

In other organization news, I've lost my Filofax. Anyone seen it? Because, um. Not cool. I think the reason why I keep myself (or attempt to) so ruthlessly organized is because I am actually quite scatterbrained--which I am. So, it's necessary that I force myself into this or I won't remember anything. I don't remember to pay bills, birthdays, send cards or gifts, appointments, meetings with friends, nothing if it's not written down. I even have a big whiteboard by my desk with a list of what bills are due when and how much--or I'd get to the end of the month and be like "crap, I should pay that." Often, this happens after I get phone calls saying WE ARE GOING TO CUT OFF YOUR SERVICE IF YOU DON'T PAY US, BIZNATCH. Cell phone companies are so touchy.

So, I need to find my Filofax. This might be in my trunk. Just about everything else I own is, although, I'm not quite sure how it got out of my purse because my purse hasn't been in there in weeks.

Also, I'm in the mood for a new purse. Not sure what, though. I'm trying to keep myself from buying purses like I normally do because I have this thing called "groceries" and it's generally good if you can afford to buy them.

Can you tell this is a stream of conciousness type of thing? Geez.

Also, I need a new cell phone. My pretty, shiny cell phone decided to die not too long ago and the cell phone company told me it would cost as much to get it fixed as it would to buy a new one, more or less. I'm afraid of sending it in because I don't want them to make the repairs and then expect me to pay it when they're done, if it's not an amount I'm comfortable paying. But I HATE my old phone, which is why I upgraded to that one. I can upgrade Sept 30 but I really, really don't want a new contract -- I like my plan the way it is, the features I have and the amount I pay for them is perfect and that'll change if I sign another 2 year contract. Never mind that I've been in a contract since I was 18 and I would like to NOT be.

But the new phone I want is $379.99 and I just can't afford that right now. Stupid Capitalism.

I'm going to go get food now. My stomach is eating my liver.

Which cell phone do you want to get? I bought the chocolate last year, and I've been 90% pleased with it. Small, cute and makes good calls. Also helps that it doesn't cost a million dollars now. That being said, I really want a Blackberry : P

I have US Cellular, which has like, next to no cool phones. I had the Razr2 (which is the broken one), which pisses me off because I had more than one of the original Razr and they outlasted the contracts. I thought about getting the Chocolate, but Verizon doesn't have the features that US Cell has, for what I use (free int'l texting, free incoming, etc).

I'm back to using my old Slvr, which is fine, but it's narrower than the Razr2, so I find I'm having a hard time texting sometimes. And I'm a texting fool.

I'm thinking of getting the LG Glimmer. It's like...the better version of the LG Shine (touch screen, all that jazz) but I really don't think I want to spend that much out of pocket.

And that's another thing with the other companies... they cost more in terms of packages, but the cells are a buttload cheaper to buy up front than at US Cell. ARGH!

And it IS generally good to be able to afford groceries, I agree. Although, purses are also good. I mean, you can um..you can chew on the leather if you get REALLY hungry?

Well, *twiddling thumbs*, I have T-Mobile pre-paid which basically means any new phone I get I would have to pay out of pocket for. So I went ahead and bit the bullet. I had an unlocked phone imported and just switched my SIM card. I love this thing. It's an LG touch screen and tiny. Not so good for touch screen but cute. It is only out in Europe and Asia at the moment.

Unlocked phones are definitely fun and envy worthy.

Ha! I just got back from buying a new one! I decided on the LG UX260...the Rumor. It's a texting-heavy phone and after discussing with a friend, I realized that this is the sort of thing I should go for, as 80% of the time, that's all I do on my phone. It's got the little slidey-out keyboard. I was gonna do the LG Glimmer, but 1) I couldn't bring myself to pay $400 right now and 2) I wasn't sure how I felt about the touch screen. And it's nice (I played with it at the store) but I'm happy with this one. Only, it's been FOREVER since I've had an LG, so I have to learn all new software all over again!

Mine is the KS20. It has its foibles and issues but it's cute and it works. I just have to get used to it. Since I'm not a heavy texter 'cause well, that shit is difficult using a telephone keypad and is cumbersome at best, that part of the phone doesn't bother me. I just wish there was a master setting where I could set everything to vibrate. Grrr.

And I forgot to say, US Cellular won't allow unlocked phones on their system. Which is kinda crappy, but I've had a couple friends try in the past and they will not activate non-USCC phones. It's bs because they tend to be a step behind everyone else. I think if we used SIM cards, it'd be a non-issue, but USCC is CDMA.

Yep, same number. I just switched the SIM card out so I can use a new phone. Yeah, I don't think I'd ever go to a non-GSM provider ever. They rope you in and you'll never get out of using their phones only. T-Mobile aka Deutsche Telekom baby!

Unfortunately, my only option out here for non-CDMA is AT&T. And I used to have them, from when they were Cell One straight into Cingular and the beginning of AT&T, but there was a noticeable difference not just in customer service but EVERYTHING -- prices, of plans and phones, customer service, phone and connection quality -- almost as soon as they merged. So when my contract came up, I went back to US Cellular. I don't like they're not GSM, but I pay literally half what I would at Verizon or AT&T. 1000 minutes/month versus 450 for the same prices, free incoming everything etc -- another reason I don't want to re-up my contract without going through the prices and features with a fine-toothed comb.
